As we approach the end of the year, it's crucial for high-impact leaders to take the time to reflect on the past and plan for the future.
If you want to make the most of 2023, it's essential to have a clear understanding of what happened in 2022 and a solid plan in place moving forward.
To help you get started, I've compiled a list of 5 questions that you should consider as you reflect on the past year and plan for the next. Don't be the leader who enters the new year without a plan – take the time to think through these questions and position yourself for success in 2023. Don’t just read through these and spend 20 seconds reflecting on each one. Take time to come back to these and set aside 30 minutes on your calendar to work through these. Let's get started. What big milestone or project did I complete this year?Think about what goals or major projects you set for yourself at the beginning of the year. What was that one big project or that major hill that you got over? It’s important to be proud of yourself and celebrate that success. Write down what the process to complete that goal looked like. What energy drainers currently exist that I need to leave behind? There may be some things things that you’re providing your energy that need left behind in 2022. Here’s some criteria to decide if you should leave something behind:- It’s causing you more stress than happiness. - It’s costing you too much time. - Value misalignment. - It’s affecting your overall well-being. This doesn’t just apply to things, there may be some people in your life who are energy drainers too who need left behind. How did I empower people this year?Leadership isn’t just about us. It’s about building others up so that they can be great as well. How did I show up for myself? You can’t lead from an empty place. We have to have real, difficult conversations with ourselves too. You are the most important part of the leadership equation. If you are solid inside, anything that comes from you will be solid as well. What character trait did I develop most this past year?Becoming a well-rounded individual requires us to continually work on versions of ourselves that need attention. It doesn’t mean there is anything wrong with you, but we should always be growing. Think about how you wanted to show up and work on yourself and in what situations you were able to work on this most. Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance. As you conclude your reflection and planning process for the new year, remember to stay focused on your goals and objectives. By regularly revisiting and adjusting your plan, you can ensure that you stay on track and make the most of 2023. As you move forward, don't be afraid to seek out additional resources and support to help you achieve your objectives. With clear goals and a solid plan in place, you can confidently enter the new year ready to tackle whatever challenges come your way. Here's to a successful and productive 2023.Until next time, Pierre Inspires
