READ TIME: 2 minute 45 seconds

Every month, about 60 of leaders at our company come together.

We meet to talk about the state of our teams, what we’re seeing in the field, and ways to keep striving toward success.

We look for ways to innovate, while also looking to connect with one another.

These meetings are vital as there often isn’t cross pollination between certain teams and this meeting provides the opportunity for people to not only catch up, but share what they have been seeing and provide helpful insight.

They are not merely gatherings to discuss business strategies but serve as a platform for leaders to connect, share experiences, and inspire one another.

we just had one recently and it was a huge success and I’m came out of it feeling full, but while reflecting, I realized something.

“How many leaders are out there simply winging it when it comes to their leadership meetings?”

When I was a young leader I had no idea how to approach a leadership meeting where people were counting on me to fire them up.

So it had to be learned overtime.

I created a 3-step frame work that would help our meetings be efficient, productive, and satisfy 3 components.

It goes like this.

It must be: Informative, Inspirational, & an opportunity to engage with one another.

Let’s break it down together.

Framework 1: Information

Effective leadership meetings begin with the dissemination of crucial information. This phase sets the stage for informed decision-making and aligns the team with organizational goals. During your meetings, ensure that you:

Apply it:
Implement a systematic approach to information sharing.

Distribute an agenda ahead of time, detailing the topics to be discussed, and encourage leaders to come prepared with their insights and questions.

This fosters a sense of ownership and engagement among attendees.

Framework 2: Learn from the Top

In the journey to becoming a C-suite executive, learning from those who have walked the path before you is invaluable.

In your meetings, consider inviting a senior leader or executive to share their experiences, challenges, and triumphs.

Their insights can provide valuable guidance and inspiration for your middle management team.

Apply it: Identify a senior leader within your organization who is willing to participate in your monthly meetings.

Encourage them to share their leadership journey, highlighting key lessons they've learned along the way.

This not only imparts wisdom but also fosters a sense of mentorship among the attendees.

Framework 3: Inspiration and Connection

A successful leadership meeting goes beyond the exchange of data and insights; it also touches the heart and soul of the participants.

Incorporating inspiration and opportunities for connection can transform a routine gathering into a memorable experience.

Apply it: Share inspirational stories or anecdotes that align with your organization's values and vision.

These stories can serve as a reminder of the impact of your work and the importance of leadership.

Apply it twice: Promote engagement and connection among attendees. Allocate time for team-building activities or group discussions that encourage leaders to interact with colleagues they may not typically work with.

For instance, provide a large sheet of paper and three different colored markers, each representing a unique idea or focus area. Leaders can collaborate to brainstorm ideas related to stewardship, cost management, finances, and employee engagement.

This fosters a sense of community and a diverse range of perspectives.

Apply it three times: Acknowledge and celebrate important milestones within your team, such as work anniversaries or promotions. Share pictures of leaders and their families to humanize the workplace.

Express gratitude for their dedication and contributions. This not only boosts morale but also reinforces the importance of longevity and commitment within the organization.

Until next time,
