Two Minute Tuesday

READ TIME: 2 minutes

Happy Tuesday FamT 🎉 Today’s Mood Below 😁

Really, I do 😅 But the truth is, there are some days where I don’t feel like doing alot of the things I talk about myself. This is life, you aren’t always going to get it ‘right’ by definition, but I think waking up and TRYING on the days where you don’t want to is getting it right.

I have BIG NEWS to share with all of you. Yesterday, I had the pleasure of presenting a keynote message with the leadership team at University of Florida Health. Their leadership conference was full of energy, inspiration and downright ACTION. This is a special group of leaders with amazing plans to make a huge impact in healthcare. It is an amazing thing to see so many leaders fixed on the same common goal of serving each other, their teams and their patients. If you caught my email last week, I talked about the importance of common goals in leadership! Here are a 3 major takeaways from my time with the UF Health Leadership Team

One of the things I always hear from people who follow along with my content or have purchased my book is, “Wow, what you coach about is so simple. I thought it would be so complex.”

And what is so important for us to know is that we don’t need to keep making leadership hard, we are so busy trying to complicate leadership and intricacies that we miss the whole point of why we lead in the first place.

Here’s a bit of what I shared with UF Health that will without a doubt improve your leadership tenacity.

Leadership is hard, but it doesn’t have to be complicated. We must undergo a mindset shift and not wait around for things to get easier. Leaders must learn to handle hard better.

  • Put people first. Plain and Simple.

  • Shortcuts will never result in a win for everybody.

  • Stop adding things. Strip some things away and simplify

We don’t make time to connect with employees, we have time to connect with them.

With crazy schedules and constant emergencies to manage, we must always prioritize one on one or regular staff meetings.

Having time for your employees shouldn’t have reservations, it should be a right. Communicate until it hurts.Leaders must use all forms of communication channels to ensure all team members are accounted for. The CCC strategy is always a winner. Be Clear, Be Concise, & Be Current. I came home Tuesday night filled with hope for the leaders of UF Health leaders and the future of Health care leaders as a country. What has your journey with simplifying leadership been like for you?

Until next time, keep being world-class
