Hey ,When's the last time you updated your resume? As a hospital president, I see a lot of resumes. The number one mistake I see is candidates not selling themselves enough. They don't talk about their accomplishments and how they've been successful in their roles.Rather, they talk about their day to day roles. To a recruiter, this just isn’t enough to impress them, you have to be unique, you have to display how your presence made things better. In this article I’m going to share how to stop selling yourself short & start getting more call backs It's not about what you say it's about how you say it.Resumes are not one size fits all. In order to stand out, you have to be intentional about the language you use and the way you present yourself on the page. This means using strong verbs and being specific about your accomplishments.Value-based outcomes > task-based outcomesRecruiters and bosses want to know how you not only contributed to success, but how you were an integral apart of it. Here’s an example of how to do that and leave the old way of writing resumes behind. For example, "I helped keep track of monthly finances."For a recruiter, this won't do much to impress. Instead, focus on the impact you made by being a part of the company. Something like this, "By creating monthly financial reports, I was able to help the company save an additional 25% on expenses by identifying overspending." When it comes time to interviewNot only will this standout amongst the multitude of resumes they will be scanning, but this will also give you an amazing talking point for your interview. WHEN you get that call, and you WILL 😉

If you're struggling with this concept or could use some help learning how to sell yourself on your resume, let me know in the comments below. I'm thinking about creating a resource with my best pieces of advice – would that be something you'd be interested in?Until next time, Pierre Inspires
